Shalon Ministry feeds 20

Over 20 orphans in Bassa Town Community behind Dry Rice Market in Gardnersville Township have benefited food donated by a local non-governmental organization Shalon Ministry Inc. The ministry says going after orphans, feeding and clothing them is one of its calls to duty.

Its founder Mother Saymu Gray said besides feeding orphans, the Shalon Elementary and Junior High School which the ministry runs, has also provided education opportunities to dozens of less fortunate and destitute children in the community.

She said the objective is to get wayward children off the streets and give them education and other needed skills that would make them productive persons in the future. According to her, the orphans and less fortunate children are fed at least three times daily, adding that though it is financially intensive, the ministry looks forward to soliciting assistance from philanthropists and well-meaning Liberians residing in the United States, who wish to identify with its program.

Meanwhile, Mother Gray has disclosed that the ministry has introduced vocational skills such as baking, hair dressing, soap making, home economics, tie and dye aimed at giving young girls skills they can use for living.

She appealed to goodwill people around the world to come to the aid of the ministry in buttressing its efforts as the country moves towards national reconciliation and development.Editing by Jonathan Browne
