Snake Society Members Arrested in Nimba

At least nine members of a notorious cult known as ‘snake society’ in Dahnlorpa, Nimba County, have been arrested by chiefs and elders in the area. Members of the cult are noted for killing their perceived enemies through charms.

According to the Liberia News Agency, those arrested include Sebastian Tozay, Nyan Konah, Lawrence Gono, and Alphanson Tokpah.  Others are Maxin Dolo, James Dolo, Zarwolo Mialeh, Paye Tokpah and Alvin Golo.

Speaking to LINA, Paramount Chief Willie Tokpah of Sanniquellie Mah District said the suspects had earlier admitted they are indeed, members of the snake society otherwise known as “Kpasiah.”

He said those arrested also informed him that several individuals, including Nyan Dahn Garpu, Musa Flomo and a man only identified as Larkpor, all of Sehyikinpa town along the Sanniquellie-Yekepa highway aided them in running the society.

Chief Tokpah further indicated that following intensive investigation, two of the accused, Maxin Dolo and James Dolo, were released due to lack of sufficient evidence, while the others have been sent to police custody, pending court action.
