-PUL urges residents
The President of the Press Union of Liberia has urged community dwellers to fully support community radio stations in their respective communities.
Speaking recently at the induction of the Nimba Community Radio Association, Kamara Abdullah Kamara also called on community members to become strong partners for local journalists across the country.
He said, the only way local journalists will be active in their areas of operations is through support of community members.
Kamara noted that community journalists have been constantly attacked by politicians and other officials for reporting on corruption, poor health and education facilities, among other activities.
The PUL boss told the gathering that if community journalists were supported and protected in their various communities, they will be able to report on issues affecting the livelihood of citizens.
Meanwhile, the president for the Nimba Community Radio Association or NICORA, Kennedy Domah, has pledged his commitment to upgrade the organization.
Kennedy also disclosed plans to undertake a US$150,000 information and Resource Center.
