Supt. Buway Urges Margibians to Invest in Agriculture

Margibi County Superintendent John Zubah Buway, is calling on the people of Margibi to use the China Union County Social Development Funds for sustainable agricultural projects in the county.

Superintendent Buway said if the citizens of Margibi could make available at least one thousand five hundred acres for the planting of rubber and palm, it will go a long way in helping to empower themselves and create job opportunities.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency, Superintendent Buway said when used wisely, the China Union Social Development Fund, which has a lifespan of 25 years, will yield fruitful dividend for the people of Margibi.

The China Union concession agreement, which was ratified by the 52nd Liberian Legislature, calls for the allocation of 1.5 million United States dollars to Bong County, US$875,000.00 for Margibi County,  and US$850,00.00 for Montserrado County, respectively. Superintendent Buway said this amount is expected to be increased to US$900,000 shortly for Margibi.

He revealed that already from the Social Development Fund, construction is ongoing for a 20 bedroom guesthouse that has provided employment for many citizens and will be a source of income for the county after China Union can no longer provide money.
