Supt. Cooper inducts Yarwin -Mehnson leaders

Nimba County Superintendent is calling on citizens of Yarwin -Mehnson Statutory District to promote peace and unity to achieve development and growth in the newly created district.

Speaking at the induction ceremony of local authorities over the weekend, Superintendent D. Dorr Cooper notes that the district has gained new strength, and there is need for citizens to focus on development rather than conflict.

He says in the past, the locals had refused to be united, so they have not been able to move ahead in terms of development. The Nimba County Superintendent emphasizes that all citizens should be fully involved with peace, unity and reconciliation that will help to bring development rather than doing things that would retard progress.

He appeals to the seven statutory authorities to do their best in preaching peace, unity and reconciliation to move the district foward.  Those inducted include, David Jacobs, Statutory District Superintendent; Abednego Pilkawo, Development Superintendent; and Joseph Yarbah, Land Commissioner, Others are: Moses Gbakun, District Inspector; Samuel Freeman, Commissioner for Zahnla Administrative District; Kumgbe McGill, Commissioner, Blinon Administrative District, and Josephus Mehnweeleh, Commissioner for Mehnsonnoh Administrative District, respectively.

Speaking also, District#9 Representative, Richard MantokayTingban, urged the local authorities to work with the citizens in moving the district forward. Rep. Tingban stresses that it is unity that led to the erection of a Cellcom tower in Zekepa Town, which the entire district currently benefits from.

According to him, if citizens are united, they would get involved in more self-help development before national government can come in to buttress their efforts.  In remarks, both Superintendent Jacobs and Development Superintendent Pilkawo pledged to work with the citizens in leading the district by prioritizing peace, unity and reconciliation.
