Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested

Police authorities in Monrovia Monday announced the arrest of eight suspected armed robbers in the Gardnersville community on the outskirt on Monrovia. The police said the eight suspects were arrested on Sunday by officers on night foot patrol, when they (suspects) besieged the homes of residents in the area. They were arrested with several machetes.

The suspects are identified as Elijah Nagbe, George Sackor, Musa Turay Armstrong Kamanda, Emmanuel Gray, Harris Freeman, Lawrence Monku and Eric Quiah. The suspects are in police custody undergoing preliminary investigation; the LNP will continue to step up its mobile and foot patrols especially at night to ensure that peaceful citizens and residents sleep in peace.

The arrests of the eight suspects bring to eighteen suspected armed robbers arrested by the police within a week. Seven persons were earlier arrested in Paynesville in a police raid last week and another three picked up in connection with the death of a businessman identified as Tamba Lamini in the ELWA, Rahab community.

The LNP is currently conducting a night screening exercise to ensure that individuals do not illegally carry arms or dangerous instruments at night. The public should cooperate with the police during these night screenings because it is intended to secure the country from roaming criminals.
