SWAL Frowns at Youth and Sports Ministry

The Vice President of the Sports Writer Association of Liberia or SWAL, has frowned at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) over the selection process of journalists to cover the ongoing National County Meet.

Martina Brooks said she is disappointment for the fact that the over 100 media institutions in the country covering sports, the ministry only selected few to provide coverage for the annual tournament, describing the move as “unfair.”

According to her, SWAL was never involved in the selection process, and that most of the active members of the association have threatened to boycott the second phase of the County Meet, if noting were done by the ministry in addressing these concerns.

She pointed out that the tournament was being sponsored by big firms here, including LoneStar Communication Corporation and the National Oil Company of Liberia, among others so there no reason to handpick few journalists to cover the games being played across the country.
