Former Deputy Finance Minister for Administration and current head of the National Bureau on Concession, Tarnue Marwolo, is dead. Reports reaching the NewDawn say Marwolo died after a protracted illness. News of his death comes as a shock to many Liberians.
Since his appointment as head of the concession bureau, he worked to improve the climate for credible concession management in Liberia up to his death.
Up to date, the Government of Liberia has attracted an unprecedented amount in foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$20 billion, accounting for over 70% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). Before his demise, Mawolo had expressed interest in contesting for a Lofa senatorial seat in the October 14, 2014 election.
