Teachers cry for pay in Bong

The National Teachers Association of Liberia Bong County branch, is appealing to the Ministries of Education and Finance to pay teachers on MOE’s supplementary payroll in the county.

According to the NewDawn Bong County correspondent, over 90 teachers from various parts of the county have spent over a week in Gbarnga, awaiting salary disbursement.

The National Teachers Association Bong County President, James Miller, is appealing to government to quickly address the plight of the supplementary teachers. Mr. Miller said teachers who are on regular payroll have received their salaries when in fact, he said, supplementary teachers are always served before regular teachers.

He wondered why regular teachers will be given salaries when supplementary teachers are not receiving pay. He warns that those affected teachers, who are clustered in Gbarnga might undermine the fight against the deadly Ebola virus, describing the situation as embarrassing.
