Teaming Up to Make a Difference

In the world of telecommunications and mobile phones, competitiveness and staying ahead of your competitors are the orders of the day. No telecommunications or GSM company wants to be left behind, striving daily to advance new and innovative products and services to make the lives of their subscribers better.

Lonestar Cell MTN Supports the President’s Cup

To do this, the company solicits support from its TEAM: Shareholders, Board members, Engineers, Marketing andits entire staff, teaming up to make the company beat its competitors and stay ahead in the market. This has been the Modus Operandi of Lonestar Cell MTN for the last 10 years, thus making it the Leader in Converged Telecommunications and Partner of Choice in Liberia.

Lonestar Cell MTN is teaming up again, this time with the Liberian government and other sponsors to support the Lonestar, the National Soccer Team as it takes on the Black Stars of Ghana in the President’s Cup, a friendly international soccer match to be played today at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

The President’s Cup is in honor of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Chief Patron of Sports in Liberia and it will also serve to strengthen the players of the national Team as they get ready in anticipation of the African Cup of nations next year in South Africa.

Lonestar Cell MTN has supported the national Team in the past and even in recent times, supported the national Amputee Soccer Team at the African Cup played in Accra, Ghana where the national Amputee Soccer Team emerged for the second time as the Champions in Africa.

This was a proud moment for Liberia and according to Lonestar Cell MTN’s CEO Mr. Tebogo Mogapi, Liberian companies and individuals must set aside their individual company policies, personal likes and dislikes and come together to give Liberia another proud moment, supporting the national soccer team, the Lonestar in the President’s Cup against Ghana’s  Black Stars.

“The interest of the Liberian nation must be paramount and maximum support must be given at all times to inspire our boys to bring scores of victories to Liberia. You see, I listened to President Sirleaf last week Tuesday at the mobilization launch for the national Team. I was moved by her words and commitment to see Liberia rise by supporting the Lonestar so it can bring the nation many wins.” Mr. Mogapi said.

Continued Mr. Mogapi “For us here at Lonestar Cell MTN, working in tandem with the government of Liberia to see this nation move ahead is our prerogative. Sports bring people together; it can serve as a conduit to bridge peace, reconciliation and hope in a nation. At the soccer game, Liberians do not cheer because of their particular tribal affiliation, they cheer because it is the nation’s Lonestar.

Many young people see playing soccer as their only hope to leave slum areas and make their lives better. That is exactly why Lonestar Cell MTN is supporting the President’s Cup and will in the future find creative ways to support sports and the development of sports in Liberia.

“President Sirleaf is doing so much for Liberia. Coming from South Africa, I can tell you that we admire President Sirleaf  a great deal, seeing her as a bright star in Africa’s rising. So, for Lonestar Cell MTN, because supporting the national soccer team is a national imperative, we are partnering with the government and even some of our competitors in the interest of our nation,” Mr. Mogapi concluded.

According to Clement Ofori Asante, Chief Marketing Officer of Lonestar Cell MTN, Lonestar’s support to the President’s Cup is well over Fifty Thousand United States Dollars not just in direct cash to the organizers but also in various logistics required to make this president’s cup a success. He said that Lonestar Cell MTN was proud to be collaborating with the Ministry of Youth & Sports and other partners to support the President’s Cup.

He said Lonestar Cell MTN will have special gifts and surprises for fans, urging Liberians to turn out en masse to support Liberia’s pride and joy, the Lonestar Soccer Team.
