An official of the Labor Ministry has said the most available jobs in Liberia are in the technical area, noting that most university and other graduates are not trained in this sector.
Labor ministry National Bureau of Employment Coordinator, George Saah, who made the disclosure Wednesday at the ministry, pointed out that most applications from graduates to the bureau are in the social sciences.
He emphasized that the job market now in Liberia is seeking technicians, rather than bankers and sociologists. He said it was time for the education sector to empower young Liberians with technical skills required to move the country’s development agenda forward.
Saah said the Bureau has instituted a career counseling program in senior high schools and universities across the country to ensure that students choose professions relevant to the demands of the job market.
