The Faith That Thrives: 3 Powerful Ways to Build It

The subject of faith in Christendom cannot be over emphasized. Faith is the key to building a lifestyle that is ever on key. As Christians, it is the real essence of our followership of Christ. Our “faith” in Christ always determines our “fate” in crisis. Therefore, how far we go in life will be determined by how fat we grow in faith. That is, by how strong and ‘rugged’ our faith in God is.

Faith is the belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without any logical proof. According to the Bible, faith is “the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen,” (Heb. 11:1)

Some years back, during my moment of meditation, God impressed to my heart these words, “If your life is based on facts, you won’t go too far in life but let your life be based on faith and you’ll never fade”. I believe this quote validates God’s Word in 1 John 5:4 that says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world, and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.”  Today, that word spoken to my heart by God has become my anchor on faith. As a result, I do all I can, as much as possible, to build my faith in God. The faith that thrives is the faith that blossoms and flourishes. It is the faith that withstands the storms of life. It is the overcoming faith, mentioned in 1 John 5:4. Outlined below are 3 powerful ways to build the faith that thrives:

1. Study and meditate regularly on the Word of God: The Bible says, ‘We are more than conquerors’ (Romans 8:37 NKJV). To be a conqueror means to fight a battle and win it but to be more than a conqueror means to win a battle without even having to fight it. As Christians, our true victory is in the Word of God. Jesus proved this when the devil came to tempt him after his fast of 40 days. He overcame the devil by the Word. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17)

2. Pray and sing to God always to despise adversity: The word ‘building’ is an architectural term that means to renovate. Our faith in Christ is continually renovated or built up when we pray and sing to God in the face of adversity. How does this happen? We always get in tune or in touch with the Spirit of God whenever we pray or sing praises to God. This, in turn, builds our confidence and faith in God.

3. Read and listen to powerful motivational and “faith-based” materials: Your faith is also built according to what you fill your heart with. Fill your mind with motivational and faith-based information through the reading of powerful motivational books and listening to faith-based CDs and DVDs. Believe me, taking this step builds up your faith in no little way.

As you make the choice today to consciously build your faith in God through the ways mentioned above, you will definitely see results. The faith that thrives in the face of afflictions is the faith that is well-built. Starting with the Word of God, build your faith today! Stay unstoppable!
