Youth Parliament NDThe Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberian Chapter (MRUYP-LC) has set December 1-31, 2015 to conduct elections in the various counties across Liberia.

The electoral timetable was drawn out during the 5th leadership meeting held at the youth parliament headquarter in Monrovia.
The leadership of the Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter has endorsed several recommendations from the Speaker’s desk, including appointment of Elections Steering Committee with the responsibilities to supervise the upcoming parliament electioneering process and formulate policies and procedures for the 2015 MRU Youth Parliament Elections across the country.

Those appointed to steer the pending elections include Saidu Vasco Nyei, Chairman; E. Friday Crusoe, Co-Chair; Region I, Kunan Brewer Vesselly, Co-Chair, Region II; and Sceedaka N. Jarkah, Jr, Co-Chair, Region III.

Cheeter B. Dweh, Chairman on Information, Culture & Tourism, said the committee with support from the leadership will do everything possible to conduct elections to bring onboard the 3rd MRU Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter. 

The Speaker of the 2nd MRU Youth Parliament, Melvin S. Sarh, is calling on youth organizations interested in participating in the upcoming elections to contact the Headquarters of the MRU Youth Parliament in Monrovia or sub-offices in the counties to pick up the organization’s mapping up form without which no one is eligible to contest.

The Mano River Union Youth Parliament (MRUYP) is a sub-regional network of young peace builders, students, journalists, development practitioners and human rights activists within the Mano River Union Basin (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ivory Coast) that advocates for peace, human rights and the development of young people and their communities. It is an initiative of the West African Youth Network (WAYN) in collaboration with the Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA) and the United Network of Young Peace builders Sierra Leone (UNOY Sierra Leone).

The Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter (MRUYP-LC) is the offshoot of the regional body; it is composed of thirty (30) parliamentarians with two (2) from each

f the fifteen political subdivisions of Liberia. MRUYP-LC is one of the three major youth institutions receiving direct subsidy from the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth & Sports. -Edited by Jonathan Browne
