A two-year old baby has been found dead in Zahn Yeakeahyee Town in district#8, Nimba County with several body parts missing, our correspondent has said. Litter Cartina Gonyon was found dead near a creek few hours after she went missing on yesterday (Wednesday June 29, 2016.)

Our correspondent said the baby’s mother had gone to work on another farm during a commune farming, while the baby was left in the village with other children. However, upon her return, she was told that the baby had followed her.

The death of little Cartina brings to two the number of toddlers found with extracted body parts in less than a year in the area, our correspondent said. The incident, our correspondent said has created fear among the local population.

Local police authority in the area are yet to arrest any suspect in connection to the death of little Cartina. The New Dawn Nimba County correspondent said the news of ritualistic killing (killing for voodoo purposes) is on the rise in the vote rich county.

According to him, several individuals including children have gone missing over time without any arrest or action taken by the local authority. With the release of the 2017 elections timetable there are fears that there could be a rise in ritualistic killings either for vote or riches in the coming months.
