TRANSCO CLSG to launch national committees

TRANSCO CLSG General Manager Mohammed M. Sherif, is heading ahigh-level Mission to Liberia from December 6 to 10, 2015 to launchthe National Committee’s activities for the implementation of theEnvironmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), as well as theResettlement Action Plan (RAP).

TRANSCO CLSG meansCote d’Ivoire,Liberia, Sierra Leone, andGuinea interconnection energy project. According to a release  issued from TRANSCO in Monrovia Friday, December 4th,the National Committees comprise all ministries and departments involved in the implementation of the CLSG (Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea) project,including the Ministries of Energy, Finance and Development Planning,Foreign Affairs, and donor partners.

The release says Mr. Sherif and his team, including TRANSCO CLSG’s Director of Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Mr. Etienne Baily; Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. JigbaYilla; EnvironmentalCoordinator, Mr. PakidameKolani; Social Safeguard Coordinator, Madam
Marie Chantel Niambe; and Engineering Coordinator, Eric Achi were in Freetown, Sierra Leone from December 1-5, 2015 to launch the National Committee activities in that country.

The Mission will travel to Guinea to conduct similar activities in that country from December 15-19, 2015 and concludes in Cote d’Ivoire from January 11-13, 2015.

As part of the implementation of its activities, and to effectively carry out the CLSG project, National Committees are set up in each of the CLSG countries to follow up on the implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) of people affected by the project.

During the mission here, the TRANSCO CLSG team, along with local authorities, will formally launch the National Committees activities through the installation of its members, including review and adoption of the tasks assigned to committee members, Operational Action Plan, review and adoption of the ESMP and RAP and the Committee functionary

budget, as well as review and adoption of the disbursement mechanism.
