Tree kills toddler in Nimba

Report from Bunadin, a village in NImba County District #8 speaks of the tragic death of a 2-year old girl by a fallen tree on a family farm on Saturday April 6, 2016. The toddler had followed her sisters to roast cassava under the tree where they had lighted a fire when it broke and fell on her killing her instantly, our correspondent said.
The toddler, Grace Monseah, was left on the farm in the care of her sisters, while their mother had gone to fetch drinking water for the family. An eye-witness, Alex Sayequee, told our correspondent at the scene that the family had put fire under the tree to get rid of it. He said when the tree felt the next morning, a portion was left standing and that it was that portion that finally fell on the toddler and killed her instantly.
Our correspondent who visited the Bunadin bush said the toddler’s lifeless body was seen lying in a pool of blood under the tree.
