Ms. Mature explained Vecencia began complaining daily of severe headaches and blurriness was taken to several clinics and hospitals in and around Monrovia where doctors carried various tests and attributed her condition to “eyes dilation and light reflection” entering into her eyes.
Vecencia was given several medications including eye therapy but her condition continued to deteriorate, Ms. Mature agonizingly explained.
Doctors later referred the family of Vecencia to take her to the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County where CT Scan was performed and doctors diagnosed Vecencia of having a tumor on the left side of her head that sits directly on her vision that had triggered the grave blurriness and later blindness, she explained.
Doctors told family members of Vecencia that the tumor should be removed the soonest and warned that another tumor was growing on the already existing one which is putting pressure on the nerve of the eyes and resulting blindness.
Ms. Mature explained that doctors at the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital told the family that the surgery to remove tumors cannot be done in country and advised the family to immediately seek medical attention abroad before the situation deteriorates and ends tragically.
