U-23 Lone Star plays return legs Saturday

After their 2-0 defeat Sunday, 26 April to Ghana’s U-23 in Tamale, Northern Region, the U-23 Lone Star of Liberia are gearing up for the second leg this Saturday, 2nd May at the same venue.

The Liberian side suffered serious disgrace and embarrassment on Sunday primarily because of poor preparation from the LFA, which was unable to provide common material such as jerseys with names and numbers of players.

The U-23 national team arrived at the Kotoka International Airport Sunday morning and later took up for Tamale for the game, which started by 3:30 p.m.

The Liberians totally lost stamina on the pitch during the match, giving their Ghanaian counterparts, the host country to turn opportunities into goals.

However, the U-23 Lone Star of Liberia remains optimistic that they can a 3-0 result against the Ghanaians this Saturday.

Coach Thomas Kojo is hopeful the team can make a comeback against Ghana in the Olympic qualifier to book their ticket to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.

According to him, the first leg on Sunday gave him pointers to work the players’ poor finishing touches to get the ball in the net.
