UNMIL Chinese Police Beats Chest On Core Values

A Senior officer of the Chinese Formed Police Unit at UNMIL says since its arrival in Greenville, Sinoe County, the unit has upheld the UN core values of “integrity, professionalism and respect for diversity.”

Police Commissioner LI Peisen said the Unit conducted operations, including static post security, daily patrols, joint patrols, VIP escort and emergency response, as well as protected UN personnel, facilities and civilians without blemish.

He made the statement at a martial art exchange activity held at the Chinese Embassy in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.. He pointed out that Chinese Martial Art focuses on routine body building, as well as friendship, among others, and is a valuable cultural fortune of the Chinese people and the ties between China and Liberia.

LI indicated that the Chinese FPU is composed of 140 members, and that through their operations, they have gained the acceptance of UNMIL and the Government and people of Liberia. “During the National Independence Day celebration, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf expressed her thanks for our work,” adding “Through our operations, we strengthened friendship with local people by our communication initiatives.”
