UP youths react to Ellen’s critics

A group of UP partisans under the banner Staunch Partisans of the  National Youth Congress of the ruling Unity Party says its attention has been drawn to unscrupulous, unpatriotic elements calling for the resignation of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

In a press release issued Monday in Monrovia, the group unequivocally condemned such calls, which it described as baseless and reckless, solely intended to corrupt the minds of Liberians. The release under the signature of general secretary Amos Y. Bartu, said those elements involved retract their calls immediately and wait until 2017.

“It is not in the best interest of our young democracy, it is inconceivable for any peace loving Liberian to embrace this idea, especially during this critical time of ours, when we are at war against this deadly Ebola epidemic,” Bartu cautioned. He said President Sirleaf is the best alternative who can steer the ship of the State at the moment.

“Therefore, it is incumbent on every Liberian to rally around her as she leads the fight against this deadly Ebola virus”, he added. Meanwhile, the youth group has urged Liberian politicians to hold their peace and wait for time of election rather making foolish and reckless statements against someone who always has sleepless nights in running the affairs of the state.
