US$8m For SKD Hotel Renovation Unjustifiable

“The US$8 million contract signed by the National Investment Commission, Ministries of Finance and Justice, and the Chinese company, is unjustifiable and unacceptable for such small building”, This Is What Grand Gedeh County Zoe Emmanuel Pennue said on Tuesday while Presenting his letter to his colleague.

The Grand Gedeh County Representative entreats the indulgence of the honorable body to invite the leadership of the Ministry of Youths & Sports “to fully give a comprehensive detail to this august body on the over eight million united states dollars contractual agreement between the government of Liberia and a Chinese businessman for the renovation of the SKD sports complex hotel, to build a less than 50 bed room house.”

Speaking to the press about the letter, Rep. Pennue said that it is beyond the imagination of any one that the government will enter in such a contract for a house less than 50.

According to him, the amount could be used to construct a five star hotel instead of just renovating such a small one, suggesting that NIC boss Richard Tolbert, former Justice Minister Philip AZ Banks and finance minister Augustine Ngafuan should be quizzed and that they should give full detail about the contract.
