VP Boakai on early warning signs

Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, a 2017 presidential hopeful for the ruling Unity Party on Friday June 17, 2016 reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the realization of the early warning system in the ECOWAS countries.

He made the reaffirmation when he met with the President of the regional body’s Commission, Mr. Marcel Alain de Souza and delegation at his Capitol Hill in Monrovia. Vice President Boakai informed Mr. Alain de Souza that Liberia continues to move forward in the process and those mechanisms required to achieve the project are being put into place.

He reiterated that Liberia will continue to maintain the peace it has attained over the years and that with over 320 million people in the Ecowas region, the issue of peace and stability was paramount and crucial to the region’s economic growth and development.

Earlier Mr. Alain de Souza raised the issue of terrorism as a threat to the region, the unfolding situation in Guinea Bissau and the Mali crisis and thank Liberia for its support to the Ecowas efforts in these areas.
