VP Taylor suspends 3 top LMA officials

Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has with immediate effect, suspended three top officials at the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA).

According to a release issued in Monrovia, the three suspended officials include LMA president Madam Alice Yeebahn; LMA vice president Abraham Barchue; and LMA Assistant Secretary General Madam Lawuo Hiami.

The release says the decision to suspend the officials came as a result of the perennial allegations of corruption, financial mismanagement, misappropriation of resources and other acts inimical to the existence of the Association.

It adds that the decision comes after more than six months of wrangling, claims and counterclaims in the LMA.

Meanwhile, the release says the Government of Liberia has requested the General Auditing
Commission (GAC) to immediately commence both financial and systems audits to verify the claims being made.

The Government of Liberia has also constituted a five-member interim leadership team to hold on, pending the outcome of the audits by the GAC.

The Members of the interim leadership are Mr. Jerry V. Geedeh and Madam Henrietta Zorpoe, representing the LMA Board; Madam Antoinette N. Mulbah, representing the Executive Committee of the LMA; Madam Cecelia G. Wuduwelh, representing the aggrieved party; and Mr. David Weah, representing LMA County Superintendents.
