WARFP Embarks On Fisheries Management Workshop

The West African Regional Fisheries Program (WARFP) – Liberia has embarked on a national fisheries management campaign as part of WARFP’s 10 million dollars project in Liberia. The campaign is to enable the country establish co-management association and national framework for fisheries collaborative management here.

At a workshop conducted on Wednesday to validate strategies for establishing fisheries co-management association, which brought together representatives from the 15 political subdivisions, WARFP-Liberia Country Director, Dr. Lawrence Issah  Braimah said, the intent of the exercise is to create a national framework for effective development, coordination and governance of fisheries management within the entire country.

Dr. Braimah named four objectives being pursued to help Liberia achieve this standard, including establishment of a framework to coordinate the development and implementation of a fisheries co-management at the national level, forming a national network of current and proposed participating fisheries co-management associations, among others.
