We do not want to be child soldiers
The 2017 United Kingdom ‘Princess Diana Award’ Winner, Ambassador Israeli Tarway has appealed to Liberians to maintain the country’s peace for the sake of Liberian children, saying if anything bad happened to Liberia, the children will be highly affected. She says as children, they do not want to become child soldiers and sex slaves, but to continue with their education.
Addressing a regular press briefing at the Ministry of Information on Capitol Hill Thursday, 16 November Ms. Israeli calls on the United Nations, ECOWAS, the Government of Liberia and political leaders to collaborate so that Liberia can continue to enjoy peace and children’s rights will not be violated or die from hunger and sicknesses.
The pupil, a teenager, thanks the Government of Liberia for affording her the opportunity to go to neighboring Sierra Leone where she met kids who suffered from the recent mudslides in that country, disclosing that during her visit, she was able to teach some of the kids there how to fix African purse and other African materials.
“I adapted three-year-old Ms Maratu Kamara, who lost 16 family members, and 9-year-old Matilda Jones, who lost her family except her dad, who is critically ill in hospital”, Amb. Israeli discloses.
She recalls that last week, she made an SOS call for a 17-year-old girl, who gave birth to a girl child at ELWA hospital outside Monrovia, but never had anyone to pay her hospital bills, thanking Madam Nuquay, who came to the young mother aid through her intervention.
