Chiefs and Elders of Nimba County, a political stronghold of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change are now demanding that President George Manneh Weah appoint youth from the county in government.President Weah received 73,434 votes or 57.1 percent of the total votes cast in Nimba County during the December 26, 2017 runoff presidential elections, according to final results released by the National Elections Commission, thanks to Kingmaker, Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, who gave his support to Weah during the runoff.
Speaking at the official declaration of memberships by over 300 Nimbaians, including County Superintendent Dorr Cooper, who joined the ruling CDC at the Wuo Garbee Tarpiah Intellectual Hall in Ganta, Chief Peter Barloun tells ruling party Chairman Mulbah Morlu that more young people from the county are well educated, but the party, thru the government is yet to appoint them to public office.
The Nimba County Traditional Council Chief asserts that if the Weah administration considered their children for employment they would be happy.The leader of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) Senator Prince Johnson led then CDC standard bearer George Manneh Weah to Nimba during the 2017 runoff presidential election and asked Nimbaians to give their votes to Weah because he (Weah) hails from the Gbei-Dru district, and if elected, the CDC leader will improve their lives.
Political observers note that in past administration Madam Ellen Johnosn Sirleaf Nimbaians benefited hugely from ministerial positions unlike the current Weah government, which has only one son from the county, Cllr. Cooper Kruah, as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.In response, CDC Chairman Mulbah Morlu, assures the chiefs and elders he will take their request to President Weah for appropriate reply.
