Weah wanted for child support

George PixSenator George Weah – Leader of the Opposition Congress for Democratic Change or CDC could face arrest upon entering the United States.

The New Dispensation News website quoted information confirmed by confidantes and Aides, as well as protégé of the football icon and opposition leader (names not disclosed) as saying that an ex-mistress filed a child support lawsuit against Senator Weah of Montserrado County for failure to pay child support in the amount of about $100,000.00 (one hundred thousand dollars).

According to the website, a former confidante and partisan of the CDC, who is also a close friend to the Senator’s former mistress, confirmed seeing the court’s papers and copy of the arrest she filed and issued by the court in the State of Georgia, where the Senator’s out of wedlock child lives.

The website also quoted the confidante as also revealing that the Senator informed the court, through his Virginia Lawyer in his response to the child support charges, that he makes a monthly income of $USD1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred United States dollars) as a Liberian Senator.

“We’ve been talking to her to take the case out of court, but she is refusing and says she will not take the case out of court,” the former confidante of Senator Weah and close friend of the Senator’s former mistress is quoted as saying.

His former confidante also confirmed that he (the Senator) narrowly dodged arrest after a tip-off when he was about to take off for the United States on his way from a FIFA Conference where he was part of the Liberian football delegation for the official filing of the country’s football Chairman bid for the Presidency of FIFA. He had to re-route to head back to Liberia.

The opposition CDC Leader, who partially lives in the United States, has yet to come to the United States since the “Arrest Warrant” was issued late last year, including the Christmas and holiday seasons.

The New Dispensation news outlet said it contacted the Senator, through his Aide, for his response to the report, but showed no interest of opening communication between the Senator’s office and it.

He, instead, appealed for the story not to be published because it would be damaging to the Senator. The Senator’s former confidante and partisan further revealed that the mistress’ lawyer of the State of Georgia has refused to recognize Senator Weah’s Lawyer from the State of Virginia because he is not licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia.

When contacted and referred to the website, the Secretary General of the CDC, JangaKowo, promised to get back to this paper, but to no avail. Instead, National Youth Wing Chairman Jefferson Koijee rang up The NewDawn,on instruction from Secretary General Kowo, to respond.

According to Mr. Koijee, Senator Weah is a free man and not under any threat of arrest anywhere, saying there was no arrest warrant out for the Senator for child support. He indicated that Weah was currently in Paris, France with his family from where he may be travelling to the United States.

He could not say when his political leader would be going because, according to him, he was not familiar with his schedule.
