Weala Peace Hut Women seek support

The head for Weala Peace Hut Women in Cinta Township, Margibi County, Madam Fatu Coleman, is appealing to NGOs, Government of Liberia, market women in Margibi and other well-meaning Liberians for support to enhance its activities in the county.

In an interview with The NewDawn correspondent in Margibi on March 8, 2015, Madam Coleman lamented that the organization is faced serious constraints that are impending its work.

She named the lack of stationeries and financial support to enable them train more women, who want to become part of the group. 

The Weala Peace Hut Women, which has more than 80 members, including men and women, is involved in skills training program such as baking, tailoring and village loan savings.

Madam Coleman said they are also involved in peace making through palaver hut meetings.

According to her, cases that cannot be handled are transferred to the police, adding, “There are too much violence cases on a daily basis.”  

Madam Fatu Coleman stressed that women are abused and striving with children whose fathers don’t want to support their kids, others take advantage of women sexually due the lack of money and job opportunities.
