WFP Hands Over to RIA

The world Food Program has handed over a logistic hub to the Robert International Airport for its use.The hub is one of the largest hubs conducted by the WFP under the Ebola operation. 

Speaking at the hand-over ceremony at the RIA Monday, the Country Director of WFP, H. E Sory Ouane, said the organization was excited to successfully hand over to the RIA the project, saying from now on, the RIA will assume full ownership and management responsibilities. The WFP Country Director expressed the belief that the hand-over will help increase the government’s own capacity in emergency

preparedness and response.

He said after Liberia was declared Ebola-free in January 2016, the WFP, with the aim to help strengthen the government’s logistics capacity , has devised a special operation to transfer to the Government of Liberia these logistics supply chain assets and skills developed during the Ebola response.

the WFP also has embarked on capacity-strengthening on supply chain management, through on-the-job and in-door training of 25 government staff assigned with the WFP from the GSA since in September 2015.

The Managing Director of the RIA, Wil Bako Freeman, expressed the RIA’s gratitude for the logistics, promising that it would be in good use.-Edited by George Barpeen
