Whapoe cautions Boakai about the deceptive inner circle

Whapoe believes President Boakai is surrounded by people whose agenda differs from his plan for the country.

Monrovia, May 3, 2024: Opposition Vision for Liberia Transformation Party (VOLT) political leader Dr. Jeremiah Z. Whapoe has cautioned President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to be mindful of the “deceptive inner circle.”

Appearing on local broadcaster Joy FM this week, Dr. Whapoe suggested that President Boakai will struggle and face difficulties due to his inner circle, which is allegedly clouded with people with individual political interests against the general goals.

“President Boakai will struggle. He is a good man and has a good heart. He will struggle because of some players he has included …,” said Dr. Whapoe.

He suggested that there are folks who pretend to be nice but execute their true intentions.

When asked about his perspective on the governance of President Boakai within his first hundred days, Dr. Whapoe suggested that President Boakai would struggle to deliver to the Liberian people.

The vocal opposition politician noted that President Boakai’s inner circle is much more concerned about job distribution than job creation as the President envisioned.

He believes that this is why they are allegedly duplicating the names of nominated officials, as was seen in the case of the Deputy Minister of Health and many others.

He claimed that there is too much power struggle around the President, stating that he feels sorry for the president because his inner circle is insincere.

“President Boakai has good intentions for the country. He will deliver, but he has to take care of his inner circle because they have separate interests outside of his goals and plan for Liberia,” said Whapoe.

“President Boakai wants to create jobs while his inner circle plans to give jobs. The president [is] surrounded by deceptive actors,” Dr. Whapoe stated.

According to him, it’s wrong for a position to be given to two persons, which is seen under this government.

“Look at what happened to the position of Deputy Minister of Health. Some things are happening that he is not in control of,” Whapoe said.

Had he been in the know, he would not recall it. Those things happen when people have their interests that [are] against the shared goal of the institution,” he noted.
