Who is who in Weah’s Gov’t?

President George M. Weah on Friday January 26, 2018 made several nominations to government as he tries to complete the formation of his cabinet, following days of government shutdown and public criticisms.

The list contains names of some former government officials from the President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Charles Taylor and slain President Samuel K. Doe regimes. Famous from the Doe regime is prof. Wilson K. Tarpeh who goes as the Minister of Commerce. He served as president of the defunct Agriculture Bank under Doe and later as Finance Minister under the Dr. Amos Sawyer led interim Government of National Unity.

Others are newcomers from the rank and files of the Coalition for Democratic Change. Estella Liberty-Kermu and Tete Gebro are the two known female journalists to be appointed as Deputy Director for Administration and Deputy Director for Broadcasting at the Liberian Broadcasting Corporation respectively.

Eugene Nagbeh retains his position at the Ministry of Information, while Varney Sirleaf of Internal Affairs and Mary Broh of the General Services Agency or GSA retain their positions.

Prof. Ansu Sonii takes over Education, while Zogar Wilson, a former official of the Charles Taylor administration takes over Youth and Sports. He is also a former Lone Star player. See the full list of Weah’s cabinet below. The nominees are subject to confirmation where applicable.
