Suspect Linda Ghicarn
Police in Ganta, Nimba County have arrested a 23-year-old woman for allegedly wasting hot water in the private part of her female friend in the Public Works Yard community in Ganta City. The attack occurred on Saturday, 16 April at 8:30pm during a quarrel over children.
Speaking to our Nimba County correspondent while lying in her sick bed in Ganta, 30-year-old victim BenethaSuah, narrated that she and the suspect Linda Ghicarn reside in the same house. Benetha continued that her children and Linda’s children had stopped eating together, something which led the landlord to intervene.
According to her, each time she cooked and gave food to suspect Linda Ghicarn’s children, they refused to eat. Benetha claimed when the landlord attempted intervening, suspect Linda attacked her daughter so she went in defend of her daughter when the accused wasted the hot water into her private part, and other parts of her body, causing severe burn.
She said her daughter Grace Suah was allegedly flogged by suspect Linda Ghicarn. When contacted, suspect Linda Ghicarn, who is currently in police cell, refused to comment. But some residents of the Public Work Yard community in Ganta told our correspondent the community is now infested with drug users involving both men and women.
The incident transpired near the Believer Authority Christian Church where its senior pastor,John Bestman, 38, allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in his office on 24 March.
According to police charged sheet, Pastor Bestman was subsequently charged with rape and sent to the Ganta Magisterial Court for trial.
His wife, Madam Annie Bestman, who happens to be Mother of the Church, was also arrested and jailed for allegedly attacking state security officers who had gone to arrest her husband at the Believer Authority Christian Church compound. Edited by Jonathan Browne
