Woman gang raped to death

Police in Brewerville City, Montserrado County have discovered the corpse of a young woman believed to have died of suspected gang rape, according to community dwellers.

Brewerville City Police commander Blama Yancy, confirmed that the victim was raped and killed, but he could not clearly say who carried out the act.

Commander Blama said the homicide team of the Liberia National Police has inspected the crime scene, and a suspect (boy) identified as Armah, was arrested in connection with the crime after he took a phone from under the dead body’s head.

“And that was when the police saw him and arrested him and took the phone from him. And in the phone they saw 26 missed calls and his picture was in the phone,” he said.

Residents claimed they saw the victim lying dead on Friday, 26 December, 2014 after allegedly being raped to death by her attackers in the Brewerville community.

The victim, believed to be in her 20s, was completely naked upon discovery, with her clothes placed beside her, while a foot of shoes and a boxer belonging to man were also left on the scene.

Some onlookers said they heard the victim yelling during the middle of the night, but claimed they could not get outdoors due to fear.

“I heard this girl yelling about 2 AM this morning, crying for help but I was afraid to come outside because this time the country is very bad,” a resident who preferred anonymity, narrated.

Meanwhile, Police Commander Blamah also said the victim’s body was taken to the St. Moses Funeral Home in Gardnersville or along the Somalia Drive, awaiting any family member to come and establish identification.

But up to press time, the body had not been identified, and the police are carrying out investigation into the reported murder.
