Women Colloquium targets 1500 participants

Deputy Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Madam Siene Abdul Bak says 1,500 participants from Liberia are expected to grace this year’s International Women Colloquium due to be held from March 7 to 8 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.


The Deputy Gender Minister told a regular press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism on Capitol Hill Thursday, 2 March that during the event, President Ellen Johnson  – Sirleaf will be honored, while fallen heroes will be recognized.  

According to Madam Bak, this year’s Women Colloquium will focus on women leadership across various sectors, to identify challenges and highlight lessons learned for the enhancement of women empowerment.
She says foreign guests are expected to grace the event in Liberia, adding that this year’s Colloquium will be co- chaired by the Minister of Gender, Children  and Social Protection and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Madam Bak concluded that President Sirleaf and former Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Ms. Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega will co-convene this year’s Women Colloquium.
