Zion University holds 28th graduation
The African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) held its 28th graduation ceremony Tuesday, 26 June at its Po River Campus in Vincent Town, Bomi County.
The pastor of the Wesley AME Zion Church in Burlington, North Carolina, USA, Rev. Dr. Dwight Bernard Cannon, Sr. and Executive Director for Global Mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church delivered the convocation statement.
Rev. Cannon called on the graduates to stand for something as they are working out of the walls of the Zion University.He reminded the graduates of the vital role they have to play in the rebuilding process of Liberia, cautioning them to serve as Ambassadors of positive change.
He hails the graduates for the step taken, and calls on them to set good example that others that are coming after them will follow.For his part, AMEZU president Dr. Charles Wesley Ford says during the 2017-2018 school year, there were many challenges, he and his staffers were able to overcome those challenges with the help of the almighty God.
He says since he took over the institution as president, there has been very cordial working relationship between him and staffers at the institution.The A.M.E. Zion University commenced in 1983 with the funding of the AME Zion School of Business, attached to the AME Zion Academy.
In 1987, the AME Zion Community College was established, offering associate degree in criminal justice administration and law enforcement, Liberal Arts, Business, As well as Diploma in Trauma Counseling, holding its first convocation in May 1989. In 1996, by an act of the Legislature, the AME Zion College was established with Rev. Fredrick Umoja serving as its first President.
