Over 200 Made Homeless in Voinjama

Over 200 people have been made homeless, following heavy rainstorm in Voinjama, Lofa County last week during Veep Joseph Boakai’s journey to his hometown of Foya District, where he got registered in the ongoing Voter’s registration exercise.

According to our correspondent, the storm destroyed over forty private and public structures in the area.

Some of the public facilities damaged were Kintoma Community School, Child Welfare School, the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital and many more.

An environmentalist, who spoke to this paper said the disaster  was a result of the lack of trees in Voinjama.  He stated that most of the trees were cut down for construction purposes.

Meanwhile, victims of the storm are appealing to both county officials and central government for assistance which would enable them to recover from the severe damaged done to their properties.
