Bong County Health Team wants budget increased

The Chief Administrator of the Bong County Health Team Jonah Tokpah has launched an appeal to government through the county authorities to increase the Health Team’s budget from US$200,000 to at least US$500,000.00.

Speaking in an interview with our Bong County correspondent on Tuesday, 16 October, Mr. Tokpah says such increase will help the Heath Team to expand its activities, ensure the purchasing of additional ambulances and motorbikes.

Currently, the County Health Team has eight functional ambulances but Mr. Tokpah says the number is small for the nation’s third populated county.According to Mr. Tokpah, it is important for the County Health Team to be supported so that it can effectively discharge its duties.

At the same time, Mr. Tokpah denies report that health workers in the County collect money from struggling patients before treating them.He argues that it is the responsibility of health workers to treat patients and there is no way that a health worker will collect money from patients at public facility.

He pledges the commitment of the Bong County Health Team to working in the best interest of the County citizens.
