Companies building roads in Grand Bassa

Three companies operating in District # 1 in Grand Bassa County are undertaking road projects in the district. Disclosing this to the Liberia News Agency on Wednesday, District # 1 Commissioner, Samuel Karmenjay, said one of the companies, RB, is constructing a 12-mile road linking Worr administrative district to Gbeh-weihn Town, and from Gbeh-wein Town to Otis Village, saying the roads are on the verge of completion.

He said AKEWA, a logging company operating in the Town to Time District is reconditioning a 28-mile road from Bokay Town to Timbor, which will also link four other villages in the area. Also, Tarpeh Timber Corporation is reconstructing a 30-mile road from Compound # 1 to Isaac Village in Timbor, and a new two-mile road from Kouf Town to Isaac Village.

Karmenjay said when these roads are completed, they will alleviate some of the problems commuters and marketers currently face, in moving from one point to the other. He said other benefits of the roads will be a reduction in the high cost of transportation and lower prices of farm produce when transported to the markets. Meanwhile, the Commissioner has thanked the companies for living up to their social responsibility to the people of District #1.
