House adjourns for First Quarter

The House of Representatives has adjourned for its first quarter of the 6th Session of the 54th Legislature to return in May 2023.

The First Quarter of the 54th Legislature ran from January 16, 2023, to 17 March 2023.

Making his closing remarks Friday, 17 March 2023, House Speaker Bhofal Chambers disclosed that the total number of sessions held was 26.

He said the number of sittings was 38, 12 appearances,13 Bills introduced, and six Bills in Committee Room. 

According to Speaker Chambers, the total number of Bills passed was 7 and the number of Executive Bills passed was 7.

At the same time, Mr. Chambers used the occasion to call on his fellow legislators to put the interest of the Liberian people first.

He called on lawmakers to remain constructive as they have always been, adding that history will defend them for being a true voice of the people through positive representation, effective oversight, and functional lawmaking.

Speaker Chambers added that the break is in fulfillment of the new blueprint for the Legislature, which provides that its break will now kick off from the third Friday of March to the second Friday of May each year.
