LBF Stars off To Israel

Six Liberian Basketball Stars are off to the State of Israel in the Middle East for trial out with various leading basketball clubs. They left on August, 1.

Inside sources of the LBF told this paper that those on the move are Mark Smith, John Beng and Gectrow Beng all of Uhuru Kings. Others are Samuel Davison and Raphael Quaye of NPA Pythons, and Dariem Kromah of Harbel Pointers.

The players trip come following the visit to Liberia sometime this year of an Israeli Basketball Coach, who expresses his interest in the locals while on the scouting move in West Africa. However, many observers see the departure of the six players as a boast to the post-war game.

Besides Harbel Pointers, the other divisional clubs are battling for supremacy in the grand finals of the 2010 League which to some extend will feel the absent of these local stars.

Meanwhile, Fred Pratt, LBF’s Secretary General has expressed regrets of the players exist. “This is because their present tastes the local league because of the sensational style of playing. But again, it is better for the country as they will serve as ambassador for the country and can be recall for national duty”.
