Leadership & Motivation

Every song needs a singer. Every achiever needs motivation. Every student needs a teacher. Be a teacher. Sit with those you mentor and feed information into them. Motivate them, influence them, and inspire them. It is important that you do it because none of us were born with great knowledge. You became what you are. You discovered what you know. It took time, energy, and learning.

You need good people around you. You need inspired people around you. You need informed people around you. You may be their only source of information and motivation. Make it a part of your leadership to educate your staff. You must constantly motivate the people you lead by showing them the future of their present commitment. Take the time to train others.

When you speak to others, be concise. Be bold but very distinct in what you say. Do not leave room for misunderstanding. Always be where you are. When you are in a conversation with someone, totally focus on what you are saying and hearing, you do not have to reflect later on with regret about that conversation. This can prevent unnecessary misjudgment.

Every extraordinary achiever has been misjudged. People sneered when the telephone was invented. When the Wright brothers talked about a day man would fly, their own father whom had just preached a sermon about angels having wings and flew and would be the only people to ever fly doubted his two sons when they told him about getting man to fly some day. Today we have the airplane. As one of my lecturers puts it-“your success is on the other side of scorn and false accusations. Know this friend.

“Research shows that the most successful people share the common trait of self-awareness. They recognize the situations that will make them successful, and this makes it easy for them to find ways of achieving objectives that fit their behavioral style. They also understand their limitations and where they are not effective and this helps them understand where not to go or how not to be as well. Those who understand their natural behavioral preferences are far more likely to pursue the right opportunities, in the right way, at the right time, and get the results they desire.” Dr. William Marston.

The few, who have decided to work and plan a system for their success, are those ones who rise to the level of greatness and are the envy of the majority of the people in the society. However, these people have prepared themselves to build and work their system with one goal in mind and that is to make the sky their limit. Examples are Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. They were both uneducated but became inventors. Ford who did not finish elementary school level invented the Ford Motor. Thomas Edison with less than three months of schooling became the world’s greatest inventor. He invented audio visual equipments and the incandescent light. If you want to give the world something that it will reward you for, begin on a quest to solve problems for others or to efficiently fill the needs of others. Remember, if you give enough people what they want, you will always get what you need.

You are truly what you think, you become what you say. As a man thinks in his heart so is he, you can never rise beyond the level of thought. One thing I have realized in life is that if you want to change a man, change the way he thinks. If you get to his mind you have gotten to the man, that’s why your mind is so important.

Those who have mastered the power of their mind in building a positive mental attitude are people destined to succeed and make a mark in their generation. Men and women of distinction are people who have creatively been able to channel their power of thought to creating a world they desire which they first must see in their mind. If you can see it, you truly can achieve it but if you can’t even God cannot help you.

There is more to you than you know, if you can only imagine, because in the world of imagination there is no limitation. You can be what your mind says, think it, and meditate on it you will surely act it out. Those who can master the power of their mind to positive and creative thinking without limitations can achieve beyond their physical limitations.

Friend, “Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.” Lao Tzu.
