Speaker Chambers: Weah demonstrating astute leadership

By Lewis S Teh

Speaker Bhofal Chambers from the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change has described President George Manneh Weah as a visionary who continues to demonstrate astute leadership for Liberia.

He made the statement over the weekend during the official launch of Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (LTC) 4G volte mobile network in Monrovia, noting that telecommunication is a means by which people transmit information by various technologies, including wires and cables, among others.

“…we are aware that technology is life, while information is priceless”, Speaker Chambers said.

The Maryland County District One Representative added that the transformation that has taken place in the sector is the result of the tremendous efforts of the current leadership, noting that this achievement wouldn’t have been possible, and the sector wouldn’t have been where it is without push from the government.

The Speaker stressed that it’s prudent that everyone gives the sector the requisite support needed to transform.

“Let’s us give LTC the requisite support they need, this is a homegrown solution, it is important that we rally LTC as a national carrier to enhance security.”

The chairperson of the House Committee on Telecommunications Rep. Isaac Roland extolled the Management of LTC for its tremendous job while extending profound gratitude to President Weah for supporting the sector.

“I’m deeply overwhelmed for us to have the LTC 4G volte mobile network, for any country to move forward in terms of achieving its goal, it is important to look at the Legislature”, Rep Roland said.

He said in the Act of the LTC, there are many institutions, so the Legislature thought to amend it, so it is against this backdrop that the milestone was celebrated.

The lawmaker noted that appointing those heading the LTC was never a mistake, as they have performed assiduously, and disclosed that as a sector head, he visited all sectors in the entity and there was never a day he went there and met employees roaming around, rather they were discharging their duties properly.

“Considering my age, and level of exposure, this is the first time we have given to ourselves, and let us believe in ourselves that we can make it.”

Meanwhile, the Board Chair of LTC mobile, Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe described the launch as a historic journey for the country, adding that today Liberia’s own telecommunication gave birth to its dream child, the 4G volte mobile.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we also acknowledge that this success is a collective one, and for that we want to express our sincere gratitude to the President and everyone”, Cllr. Zoe said.

The ceremony brought together scores of government officials from line ministries and agencies, members of the diplomatic corps, partners and well-wishers, among others.https://thenewdawnliberia.com/rep-larry-youngoi-speaker-chambers-is-overly-protective/ Editing by Jonathan Browne
