LISGIS promises to pay contractors for 2022 malaria control survey

The Liberia Institute of Statistics & Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) has assured all those who were contracted to conduct a malaria control and indicator survey from August to September 2022 that they will be paid.

The assurance comes in the wake of a protest in the compound of LISGIS on 4 December after months of peacefully trying to get payment.

Acting LISGIS Director-General Lawrence George and Assistant Health Minister Chea Wesseh met the protesters where it was agreed that they will be paid on or before December 13.

According to a release on December 5, payments to the contractors were delayed because Global Fund had not remitted the money to LISGIS’ account.

Each of the 81 contractors was paid US$840, 80-percent of the full amount, before they began work throughout the country.

They will receive a balance of US$560 once the amount is remitted by Global Fund through the Catholic Relief Service. -Press release
