Another journalist falls

The cold hands of death have again hit the Liberian media- this time with the fall of prominent Liberian Journalist and media Executive Herbert Johnson. 

Journalist Johnson was pronounced dead early Monday morning by medical authorities at the J.F.K. Memorial Hospital in Sinkor following his admission last Friday evening.

Herbert, who left Liberia early this year for a visit to the United States, arrived back in the country on Friday, May 1, 2015 after he was discharged from the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. He was reportedly being treated for liver cancer.

His admission at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital was under the auspices of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas or ALJA headed a former Editor-in-Chief of the Liberia Broadcasting System, Mr. Moses Sandy.

His body has already been deposited at the Abraham Roberts Funeral Home on Somalia Drive in Gardnerville, while funeral arrangements are being made.

The late Journalist Herbert Johnson of Hindii in Fuamah District, Bong County, is survived by his wife, Sylvia and a daughter.

Prior to his departure for the United States early this year, Herbert published and managed the Option Newspaper, as well as the Dairy Newspaper. He also served as Media Consultant in the Office of then President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate Cleteus Wotorson of Grand Kru County. He was also an influential member of the Press Union of Liberia, Publishers Association, as well as the Editors Association, among others.-Edited by George Barpeen
