Boakai wants government’s assets turned over

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has directed former government officials to surrender all government assets in their possession.

According to an executive mention release issued on Friday, February 2, 2024, the directive takes immediate effect without any delay or hesitation.

The release says with utmost seriousness and urgency, President Boakai has announced the formation of a Government Assets Retrieval Team (GART) in accordance with the Constitution.

This team is tasked with the responsibility to identify, trace, and retrieve all government assets within and outside of Liberia.

“Part of the Team’s functions will focus on investigating assets and also working with the relevant agencies of government to prosecute those found criminally liable.” The release warns.

It says the President places premium on the highest standards of commitment, integrity, and patriotism as a hallmark of public service and has been urging officials of government to exercise and demonstrate these principles at all times
