An eminent citizen of Bong County is urging women of the county and the country at large to unite and focus on what they want to achieve in life.

Madam Moima Briggs Mensah said Liberian women will only attain their goals thru having faith in God and believing in themselves. She made the statement in Totota, Bong County on July 26, 2015 while serving as guest speaker at program organized by the group Better Women in the county under the banner “Operation Restore Hope”.

“Operation Restore Hope” is a campaign that brings women together from various parts of Bong County to assist one another. She told the audience that women can make things to happen the way they want it if only they put themselves together.

Madam Mensah said she was very impressed when she saw women from all parts of Bong County supporting themselves and not looking up to anyone to do it for them. According to her, often the women cry that nobody wants to help them, something that have prompted her to encourage them to become self-supportive.

She emphasized that women are so powerful and hard working so much so that if they put themselves in order and gear toward something, it can be done. Madam Moima Briggs Mensah: “Women, we are such a powerful people. We are such a great people, we can make it. You have to be focused and believe in what you doing”.

She also said if they respect one another, respect the men and believe in themselves they will always be successful.  Madam Mensah, who presented US$250 as her contribution to the program “Operation Restore Hope”, said the campaign started ever since and was even working during the Ebola crisis in the country.

According to her, she also distributed seed rice among citizens in Salala District, Lower Bong County during the onset of the farming season to enable them grow more food and prepare for the next farm period. By Ramsey N. Singbeh, Jr. in Margibi – Editing by Jonathan Browne
