Dead baby sparks concern in Fish Market community

The corpse of a three months old baby boy identified as Isaiah James has been abandoned in the Airfield Fish Market community, opposite the James Spriggs Payne Airport in Monrovia.

According to the office of Montserrado County district #9 Representative MunnahPelhem Youngblood, the body of little James was found late Saturday, October 25, in the district and she was informed about the incident, which prompted her to immediately rush on the scene.

The corpse was found wrapped in a comforter and abandoned on the road side in a black plastic bag. After hearing about the incident Representative Youngblood immediately left her residence and went on the scene where she reportedly met the Director General of the General Services Agency or GSA, Madam Mary Broh, who had already placed a call to the Liberia National Police, the LNP.

Sources from the lawmaker’s office said Representative Youngblood also contacted the John F. Kennedy hospital, adding that when the police homicide division arrived on the scene, it discovered little Isaiah James had been pronounced dead earlier by an unknown clinic and subsequently turned over to family members.

“The Police homicide division came for the assessment and after opening the entire comforter, we realized the baby name was Isaiah James, died 4:35pm at a local clinic or hospital and the body was turned over to a relative that dropped the plastic alone the road,” the source narrated.

However, the body was later removed by the Police and turned over to the JKF for further investigation. “Till now the mother or any family members are yet to be identified, including the name of the hospital or clinic this child died in. May his soul rest in peace,” the source in the office of Representative Youngblood concluded.
