Disable Community Lauds Ellen

The Association of Disabled Female International (ADFI) has commanded President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for her recent call for the employment of physically-challenged people in the society. According to an ADFI statement released on Thursday in Monrovia, the President’s pronouncement is highly laudable.

The statement signed by Madam Meima Hoff, Acting National Executive Director of ADFI, said among others that the employment of disabled persons should not be only the responsibility of the Executive branch, but the Legislature and the Judiciary as well.

Madam Hoff said both branches should help in the employment of qualified and competent disabled persons in their respective offices. ADFI has meanwhile called on the President to ensure the provision of reparation for Liberian war victims.

The group believes strongly that providing reparations for war survivors will certainly help in the reduction of most social problems in the country as this would help to reduce trauma and restore hope in victims, particularly those left physically-challenged as the result of the war.
