Government to launch Liberia Digital Transformation Project

The Chairperson of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), Madam Edwina Crump Zackpah has disclosed government’s plans to launch the Liberia Digital Transformation Project at the LTA.

The project is the government’s initiative that will design and implement relevant programs in the Liberia telecommunications sector.

Madam Zackpah disclosed that the digital project will benefit thousands of citizens across the country.

The project will create the right stimulus to enable and empower Liberians to embrace and deploy e-business solutions and Smart technologies to become Tech Educated in specific areas like eCommerce, Software utilization and become tech Entrepreneurs through seed funding for sustainable tech solutions addressing local challenges.

“This is a great news for the people of Liberia, the LTA will in the soonest possible time put smiles on the faces of every Liberians wanting to open e-businesses among others with the launching of the Liberia Digital Transformation project,” she said.

She however disclosed that the LTA will continue to create the enabling environment to better the digital space.

She spoke at a program marking the launching of Lonestar Cell MTN’s 21 Days Y’ellow Care closing on Wednesday June 28,2023.

Lonestar Cell MTN’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care initiative also aims at providing participants with the technical knowledge about using the internet for e-commerce or digital marketing to make them self-reliant and productive citizens.

Making remarks at the program, Madam Zackpah underscored the pivotal role of digital transformation to the economic growth of Liberia.

Speaking on the theme “Empowering Local Entrepreneurs and Driving Economic Growth,” Madam Zackpah said LTA being the twin mother for the telecommunications sector in Liberia will continue to work with all telecommunications companies that are in compliance to improve the sector.

She said together all Liberians have the power to shape the future. 

“We embark on this journey that holds immense potential for our nation-Mama Liberia…Together we have the power to shape the future. Using technology, we can change lives,” she said.

Speaking further, Chair Zackpah reaffirmed LTA’s support towards creating an enabling environment where entrepreneurs can develop and be successful.

“Our responsibility as regulator is not just merely enforcing rules and regulations; but to foster an enabling environment where entrepreneurs can thrive. We must be catalysts of change,” she noted.

The LTA is the regulatory and competition authority charged with the statutory responsibility to ensure a vibrant telecommunications sector in Liberia. –Press release
