Liberia Faces Ghana September 12, 2012

Liberia’s national soccer team, the Lone Star will on Tuesday, September 12, 2012, be in another action, this time against the highly rated Black Stars of Ghana. The match, which is being sponsor by Lonestar Cell MTN, Liberia’s leader in converged telecommunications is dubbed Presidential Friendship Cup 2012.

The Liberia –Ghana match comes after the senior national team put up a thrilling performance against the Supper Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday in the AFCON 2013 final qualifier.

The match is expected to see the Black Star parades its local and international based players to test the strength of the ever improving Lone Star squad days after it held Nigeria to a 2-2 draw.

The Lonestar Cell MTN is said to have earmarked US$25,000.00 (Twenty Five Thousand United States Dollars) as its contribution to the match. According to sources, the GSM Company believes that football has always provided the platform for national healing, peace and reconciliation.

Irrespective of political affiliation, religion, tribe or clan, football always promotes national cohesion, expression of patriotism, moments for hope against all odds, burying differences as a people and as a nation, etc.

In addition to its sponsorship, the Lonestar Cell MTN has added momentum to Tuesday’s match by encouraging its subscribers to predict the winner and win great prizes. The company said subscribers can predict a win for Liberia by texting 1 to 3234; and predict a win for Ghana by texting 2 to 3234.
